Shannon Johnson
Shannon Johnson

Shannon Johnson is better known by the nickname "Pee Wee," but there's nothing small about Johnson's achievements on the court. The four-time WNBA All Star and Olympic gold medalist joined the Storm as a free agent on Feb. 23, 2009. The move reunited her with Storm Head Coach Brian Agler, who coached Johnson with the ABL's Columbus Quest when the two combined to win consecutive ABL championships. She subsequently joined the WNBA and was allocated to the Orlando Miracle, where she was one of the league's top point guards because of her ability to beat opponents with her scoring and passing. Johnson has also played for the Connecticut Sun, San Antonio Silver Stars (working with Agler, an assistant coach), Detroit Shock (advancing to the WNBA Finals) and Houston Comets. Johnson provides the Storm an experienced backup for starting point guard Sue Bird as well as the ability to play alongside Bird and take ballhandling duties while freeing Bird to become a scorer.
