Sky Help Clean Up Garibaldi Park

On Thursday July 9, as part of our “Go Green” initiative the Sky’s K.B. Sharp, Sky Guy, and the Street Team partnered with AthletiCo and the Chicago Park District at Garibaldi Park laying mulch to protect trees and provide a safe surface in the playground.

The Sky was also joined by fans and 100 volunteers from the Green Urbanism program. Green Urbanism is a group of 150 Chicago Public School students who attend high schools on the West & South sides of Chicago. They participate in an innovative six week summer green educational, training and green collar job employment program. With their help we were able to lay mulch around 100 trees and a playground in only 2 hours!

The Sky’s greenest advocate, K.B. Sharp assisted with laying mulch at the event and spoke to the volunteers about the importance of “Going Green” and leading environmentally conscious lives. All fans who attended the event received a Sky ticket courtesy of AthletiCo.
