Silver Stars Raise More Than $38,000 For Local Breast Health Awareness Charities

SAN ANTONIO – After an overtime victory over the Detroit Shock on ESPN2 Saturday, the San Antonio Silver Stars returned to the court for the annual CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Breast Health Awareness post-game auction, offering their pink game-worn uniforms and shoes to fans in a post-game charity auction that raised $38,125 to help local Breast Health Awareness charities.

The auction was the second of two events the Silver Stars hosted in honor of Breast Health Awareness this season, with the annual golf scramble serving as the first event. A portion of the proceeds from both events will benefit local breast health charities, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing (WINGS), Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation, Alamo City Cancer Council, Support Lending for Emotional Well-Being (SLEW) and the American Cancer Society.

The Silver Stars easily eclipsed last season’s auction total by putting up big numbers this season, including $6,500 for Becky Hammon’s uniform and shoes, and $6,000 for Sophia Young’s uniform and shoes.
