Play Overseas Begins For Many Lynx Players

Action across the pond continued this weekend for your favorite Lynx players, as Charde Houston, Anna Montaņana, Renee Montgomery and Candice Wiggins all secured League victories.

Roneeka Hodges -- Tarsus (Turkey)
Play commenced in Turkey this weekend with a full slate of League games, featuring the Turkish debut of Lynx guard Roneeka Hodges. Hodges and her squad, Tarsus, took on Samsun, a team that finished 15-3 in 2008, good for 2nd place behind Seimone Augustus and Galatasaray. Tarsus, who a year ago finished League play at 10-10, struggled to find its groove the entire contest, eventually falling 51-43 to Samsun. Hodges totaled 2 points (1-6 FG), 1 rebound and 1 assist in just over 23 minutes of action. 2009 first-round draft pick Chante Black had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort. Along with Black and Hodges, WNBA player Ketia Swanier is also on Tarsus.

Charde Houston -- Tarbes (France & EuroLeague):
In a battle of the league's remaining unbeaten teams, Charde Houston and Tarbes survived a scare from Arras to improve to a perfect 6-0 in France's LFB. Houston scored a team-high 24 points and added 7 rebounds to propel her team to the 85-84 victory. Through six games, Houston is shooting nearly 65 percent from the field while pouring in a league-high 20.5 ppg. Houston has had games of 26, 24, 22, 20, 16 and 15 points. Tarbes will open up EuroLeague play on Wednesday, hosting Hungarian club Szeviep Szeged.

Quanitra Hollingsworth and Renee Montgomery - TEO Vilnius (Lithuania & EuroLeague)
This pair of rookies have made is look easy so far for Lithuanian club TEO Vilnius. Through four games, TEO, the defending Lithuanian champions, is a perfect 4-0, and has won by an average of nearly 50 points per game. Included in the club's four victories are wins of 113-10 (not a typo), 101-32, 76-53 and 76-72. On Saturday, Montgomery and company earned a 76-53 victory over LKKA-Aistes. Montgomery totaled a season-high 21 points, 3 steals and 2 assists. In three games, Montgomery is averaging 14.0 points, 3.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, while shooting an even 50 percent from the field. Hollingsworth, in two games, has averages of 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. TEO will next travel on Wednesday to Ekaterinburg, Russia for its first EuroLeague match against Russian club UMMC.

Rashanda McCants -- Elizur Holon (Israel)
McCants and Elizur Holon were idle this weekend, but travel to face Hapoel Tel Aviv today. Elizur Holon opened up regular season play last Monday with a 72-62 victory over Maccabi Tel Kabir. McCants contributed a team-high 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

Kelly Miller - Spartak Moscow (Russia & EuroLeague)
Spartak Moscow. Miller, filling in for Sue Bird, has gotten off to a nice start for the three-time defending EuroLeague champions. In three Superleague contests, Miller is averaging 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists in just over 25 minutes per game. Miller and Spartak bested a Seimone Augustus-less Galatasaray squad 92-59 in the inaugural SuperCup Women on last Tuesday. Miller contributed 5 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in the win. Miller and company open up EuroLeague Qualifying Round action on Wednesday, hosting Czech Republic squad Frisco Sika Brno.

Anna Montaņana - Ros Casares (Spain & EuroLeague)
Anna Montaņana and Spanish power Ros Casares improved to 4-0 in Liga Femenina this weekend with a 73-56 win over previously unbeaten Rivas Ecopolis. Montaņana came off the bench to contribute 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in 22 minutes. In five games, Minnesota's mid-season pickup has averaged 6.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Ros Casares begins EuroLeague play on Wednesday, hosting Latvian squad TTT Riga.

Candice Wiggins -- Athinaikos (Greece & EuroCup)
Wiggins and Athinaikos improved to 2-0 in the Greek League on Sunday with a 92-73 road victory over Apollon Ptolemaidas. The 2008 Sixth Woman of the Year totaled 14 pts (6-13 FG), 2 rebounds, 3 assists 1 steal in 27 minutes. In three games, Wiggins is averaging 16.0 ppg, including games of 14, 20 and 14 points.
