Fueled by a 23-0 offensive onslaught that covered the last half of the second quarter and the first two minutes of the third, the USA Women's National Team (3-0) handed host UMMC Ekaterinburg (2-1) a 78-63 defeat on its home court to win its third game in as many days and claim the Ekaterinburg International Invitational championship Sunday evening.
"I think when you play at a certain level you know a lot of things, and it's easier to help each other out or work things out even though we haven't played a long time together because it's basic basketball and everyone has a good basketball i.q. so I think that helps a lot," said Lynx guard Renee Montgomery

Team USA Moves to 2-0 With 79-65 Win
The USA Women's National Team improved to 2-0 at the Ekaterinburg International Invitational last Saturday with a 79-65 win over Hungarian squad Euroleasing Sopron. Candice Wiggins contributed 3 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound.
Renee Montgomery scored off a drive and University of Connecticut forward Tina Charles took over inside and scored the USA’s next eight points in a 10-2 run that left the Americans ahead 38-23 with 2:51 to play in the quarter.
"I was really happy to see Tina do well just because she's young coming here and I'm sure confidence isn't going to be an easy thing to have when you're going against a lot of older people who have played in the WNBA," said Montgomery. "I was just happy to see her be aggressive and play the way she is capable."

"Our post players haven't really been stopped yet we're just going to keep working it in there to them, why change something up if it's not broke?," said Montgomery.
