Minnesota Lynx Sign Center Tyesha Fluker

The Minnesota Lynx today announced that they have signed free-agent center Tye'sha Fluker. On Saturday, the Lynx waived Kamesha Hairston and Aisha Mohammed. With Minnesota's recent transactions, its training camp roster now stands at 14 players.

Fluker, originally selected No. 10 overall in the 2006 WNBA Draft by the Charlotte Sting, has played parts of three seasons in the WNBA with four different teams, including Charlotte, Seattle, Los Angeles and most-recently, Chicago. In 78 career games, the six-foot-five center has averaged 2.4 ppg and 1.6 rpg in 8.9 mpg. The Pasadena, California native played in 26 games, including two starts, with Chicago in 2008, averaging 2.7 ppg and 1.3 rpg. Fluker played her collegiate basketball at Tennessee where she was a teammate of current Lynx player Nicky Anosike for two years.

The Minnesota Lynx open their 11th year of basketball in the Twin Cities on June 6, 2009 vs. the Chicago Sky at Target Center. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a 2009 regular season magnet schedule. Tickets for the opener start at just $10 and can be purchased by calling 612-673-8400, e-mailing tickets@lynxbasketball.com, or visiting the Lynx website at www.lynxbasketball.com.
