Lynx Defeat Monarchs in Preseason Opener

The Minnesota Lynx won their first preseason game of the 2004 season with a 78-60 victory against the Sacramento Monarchs on Wednesday night in Albuquerque, N.M. at The Pit. Minnesota rookies Nicole Ohlde and Amber Jacobs led the Lynx in scoring with 12 points apiece, with all of Jacobs' points coming in the second half. DeMya Walker topped Sacramento with 12 points.

Minnesota shot 48.5% from the field, including a scorching 60.0% (21-for-35) after halftime. The Lynx held a 44-32 advantage in points in the paint, and outscored Sacramento 12-4 in fast break points. Minnesota held a 33-30 halftime advantage before outscoring the Monarchs 45-30 after intermission.

Former New Mexico star Jordan Adams scored eight points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field in her return to The Pit. A crowd of 6,336 witnessed Adams' return to her alma mater.

The Lynx host the Detroit Shock on Tuesday (May 11) at Target Center at 11 a.m. in the team's second preseason game.
