SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 31 (Ticker) -- Yolanda Griffith and the Sacramento Monarchs wanted no part of a repeat performance.

Griffith scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting as the Monarchs took control in the second quarter to cruise to a 87-66 victory over the Seattle Storm.

Ticha Penicheiro added 15 points, Nicole Powell had 14 and rookie Scholanda Dorrell 12 for Sacramento, which had no players with more than 10 points in Thursday's 81-66 setback to Houston.

On Wednesday, the Monarchs started fast by eclipsing their nine-point first-quarter total against the Comets with 20 points. Penicheiro collected seven during a 13-2 run to start the second period for a 33-16 lead.

Sacramento held a 49-29 halftime lead, pushed the advantage to 26 points and never were threatened.

Lauren Jackson had 20 points and eight rebounds and Betty Lennox scored 18 points for the Storm, who were outscored in the paint, 52-24, and have lost their last two visits to Arco Arena.
