For 12 years now HALEY, “The Houston Comets Far-Out Alien,” has entertained, inspired, and delighted Comets fans everywhere she goes. At games, across the city of Houston, and even around the country, HALEY is constantly sharing her personal joy and love for WNBA basketball. Whether she is delivering one of her “infamous” birthday cakes, popping streamer cannons, shooting silly string, stomping on her “famous” C-O-M-E-T-S at mid-court, or simply doling out a hug, HALEY is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face both young and old. She landed on this planet in Houston on June 21, 1997, when the WNBA was born and has been the Comets’ #1 fan ever since.

After cheering on her favorite team at over 200 home games and four consecutive championships, HALEY’s trademark long squeaky nose, long silver pony tail, black google eyes, and red space outfit got a bit of an overhaul in her “Mascot Extreme Make-Over” for the Comets’ and the WNBA’s 10th anniversary. By visiting houstoncomets.com and voting over the course of four months between February, 2006 and May, 2006, Comets fans determined what the “new” HALEY should look like. Nine years after her first sighting in Houston, the new and improved HALEY made her debut at opening night Sunday, May 21, 2006, against the San Antonio Silver Stars in front of over 10,000 Comets fans. With a greatly reduced button nose, silver pigtails, royal blue google eyes, and a brand spanking new Comets home jersey and shorts, HALEY thrilled fans with her new look.
